Subject Vision and Intent

GCSE Photography: lens-based and light-based media

We aim to provide an educational experience in which students can apply technical knowledge and understanding to the practical application of photography that prepares students for further education and industry. We aim to support students in visually communicating a broad spectrum of thoughtful and creative personal responses through a process of; research and critical analysis, a range of methods for recording and presenting and through the trialling and development of appropriate media and processes.

Autumn Term 1  

     

Skills based practical workshops and mini projects in preparation for sustained projects in component 1.

Students work on their chosen starting point for their mock exam.

Autumn Term 2

Sustained project 1 for component 1 covering all four assessment objectives. Starting point of ‘repetition’.

Students work on their chosen starting point for their mock exam. 
Completion of all component 1 portfolio.
Spring Term 1 Sustained project 1 for component 1 covering all four assessment objectives. Starting point of ‘repetition’. Commencing of externally set task for component 2.
Spring Term 2

Sustained project 2 for component 1 covering all four assessment objectives. Starting point of ‘identity’.

Continuation of component 2.

Summer Term 1 Sustained project 2 for component 1 covering all four assessment objectives. Starting point of ‘identity’.

Completion of component 2, culminating in 10 hours of supervised, unaided work under exam conditions.

Summer Term 2 Sustained project 2 for component 1 covering all four assessment objectives. Starting point of ‘identity’. Starting point options for year 11 mock exam given to students. Sustained project 2 for component 1 covering all four assessment objectives. Starting point of ‘identity’.
