Netball Match Report: HHGS vs Heartlands Academy |
WOW! We had amazing league match against Heartlands Academy on Wednesday 11th January. It was KS3 which I found easy because some of the girls were short so it was easy to throw the ball over them! My teacher moaned that we were doing long throws but eventually at the end we threw a bit closer to our team mates! Hodge Hill Girls' scored 11 and Heartlands Academy scored 0. I was a Wing Attack and the girl next to me kept and saying, "Your school is really good at playing Netball.’ Heartlands had some good players, I liked it the way they spaced out, they to throw the ball to everyone then try and score a goal. Heartlands stepped up their game in the second half. I am looking forward to playing them again and the other schools we have been playing against too.

As we enter the last week of the Autumn Term we look forward to the many fun and exciting activities we have scheduled. Awards Assemblies are already underway with Year 11 receiving their certificates on Friday last week and Years 7 and 8 receiving theirs on Monday morning. Years 9 and 10 will be presented with their certificates for the term on Tuesday morning during normal assembly time. On Wednesday we will hold our usual Christmas Assemblies, pupils are asked to choose if they wish to attend for festive fun and lots of singing! Arrangements have been made for those who opt to stay in lessons. Then, the excitement builds on Thursday with rehearsals taking place for the first ever H Factor! We will end the term on Friday with a non-uniform day to raise money for Acorns Children's Hospice and of course the H Factor performance, which looks set to be our best ever end of year performance... so get your hands ready for lots of clapping! School will finish slightly early on Friday at 2pm; pupils should ensure they have returned their permission slips for this early closure as pupils without permission will stay in school, supervised, until 3:20pm.

Acorns Children's Hospice |
While we have always prided ourselves on being a charitable bunch here at HHGS, we seem to be really outdoing ourselves lately! Following our extremely successful fundraising for both Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Children in Need, we are showing our support for local charity, Acorns Children's Hospice, who offer a network of care for life limited and life threatened children and young people, and their families. The Year 10 Team are providing assemblies across the next week, the presentations from which will soon be uploaded to Frog for you to check out. We will end the term with a non-uniform day on Friday 16th December, with all funds raised going to Acorns. Please visit the Acorns website to learn more about their incredible work.
